hi i have a tohatsu 50 hp 2006 the engine has sat for a while and when i start it it revs up and down have you any idea

hi had engine out at sea today to test starts fairly ok . but then revs up its self the model no is m50d2.seriel no is 006951xf found pipe of at linkage side with a one way valve in put back on but made no diffrence

hi forgot to mention today when i had it out at sea it wont rev any more than 3000 revs when under load and ruff idle

If it sat with fuel in the carburetors you may have to dismantle them for cleaning.----You could run it with a timing light to see if all cylinders have steady spark.

Yep. Do a good diagnosis, with the aid of your Factory service manual. Likely a problem with the fuel system and varnishing.
