Tohatsu 1997 40hp lower unit

Anyone know where I can find a lower unit housing for a 1997 Tohatsu 40hp (M40D)? My son hit a log in the river and it tore the left side of the plate off. Not sure if this can be repaired or if I have to purchase a new/used housing? There is no interior damage, just exterior. I called Tohatsu and they said they did not carry a part that old. I really find that hard to believe...

Assuming you have the M40D2, based on the year, there are two different housings available, depending on whether you have short/long or Ultra-long shaft length. They are both in stock at the warehouse. 3C8S600000 GEAR CASE S/L $399.05 or 3C8S600900 GEAR CASE UL $379.42. Available from any dealer, including me.
