tj90tlets fuel consumption

What should be the normal rate of fuel consumption on a tj90tlets at 4K RPMs per hour? Mine seems high. I did replace the VRO with a fuel pump and I do have a pretty strong smell of gas. Does the pump put my fuel in the carbs and it isn't burning it up?

There is always fuel within those carburetors, otherwise you'd have a difficult time restarting it.

If the smell of gasoline is present, check for leakage at the fuel tank, the fuel supply line, and at the powerhead when the Fuel Primer Bulb is pumped up hard... and run the engine without its hood so as to observe that area closely.

A wild guess as to compare a personal V4 fuel consumption check of many years past... at that rpm, I burnt 6 gallons in 45 minutes. What are you burning?

I guess I am about the same. I am running at about 22 MPH at that RPM. I thought the burn rate would be high but did think that high.

Yeah, then things haven't changed much... at full throttle, my fiberglass cabin rig would hit 36 mph... but dropping back into cruising range (about 3/4 throttle), my speed would be right around that figure of 22 mph.

I've never actually measured mine, but I know it is not many miles to the gallon. These are known for sucking down fuel.
