timing light question

is there any reason I couldn't put a lighter plug on my timing light instead of using the battery clips? I kneel on top of my battery box when checking the timing so it's a pain to connect and it pinches the wires.

I have 12v outlet that's wired to the battery for my inflation pump that would be a lot easier.

Bob,

Radio Shack has water proof 2 pin plugs in their parts drawer. Did it on ours since it is down in the bilge. Kinda like those tow trucks that have battery connections fopr jumping right on the front grill...very convenient

Funny, I thought of that but wasn't sure if a 12v outlet of any type was allowed in the engine room?

I could easily add that and have a way to use my 12v drop light too.

Kill two birds with one stone.
Set up a battery bank with the Pico 6383pt 175 Amp Batt Cable Connector (quick disconnect), fit your timing light and jumper cables with the same disconnects. These are polarity correct once installation is done correctly!
