Timing belt

Not sure if this is the right but , a buddy of mine found a 1987 bayliner capri that needs a timing belt for 400$

What all replacing the timing belt on that does it intail ?

I’m pretty good with engines but have never worked on an inboard motor

It has a 2.3 lt in it

It's a Ford 2.3L 4 cyl. Should be straight forward with easier access than a car. BUT I don't know if a broken belt becomes bent valves on that particular engine.

The older 2.3l are non-interference engines (unless modified)...so shouldn't be any collateral damage from the belt separating...
