Timing belt replacement

You can figure it out.

Hint....take out plugs. Put thumb over #1 plug hole. Rotate engine by hand until you feel compression build against your thumb.
That means #1 is in it's compression stroke. Rotate a bit more until #1 piston is at TDC. Feel carefully with screwdriver to note the piston position.

Now. Remove any covers from the belt/top of engine. Examine both pulleys...the crank pulley, and the cam pulley. There will be marks on both of those pulleys SOMEWHERE, and because you have the #1 piston at TDC, compression stroke, the marks will be facing each other.

Look carefully. The marks are there.

On a DF70, the crank pulley has a tiny hole drilled into the flange of the sprocket that the belt rides on.
The cam pulley has a "dot" stamped into the casting of the pulley.
When in time, the drilled hole AND the "dot" are pointing at each other.

If you cannot find marks, then it is still simple. Just DO NOT LET ENGINE ROTATE, remove old belt, put new one on, and as long as you have not let the engine rotate, it will be in time.
