Timing advance 1986 28hp Johnson

On the throttle lever #37 Cylinder and crankcase the pin will pop out of the lever when I open the throttle. Once that happens I don't have the right timing and it won't run right. There is nothing to hold that pin in place so I am not sure how to fix it. In the picture it looks like the pin is part of the lever assembly but mine is not. The spring puts tension on it so it looks like the pin is pulled on a slight angle. Any help would be appreciated I have dealt with this for several years.
