1985 Mercury changed stator. Down to the last 2 wires that are yellow and I'm not sure of what post they go on . I know what 2 post that they came off of but both wires rotted off before I got a look at them . Question is does it matter what post I put them on

They feed AC to the rectifier , so it should not matter.
