"I have a 1996 48spl. it has tilt and trim and what I assume is the trim sending unit with a black, white and green wire. What is the wiring order for a teleflex gauge? and how do I check the function of the sending unit?"

"The gauge dispite the brand is nothing more than a dc volt meter, the sending unit a variable resistor, which, will reduce or increase voltage to the gauge, as long as you use the black as neg which should be marked on you gauge, the white on one side and green on the other activate trim and watch gauge, if it is working in reverse of normal simply switch the geen & white, you should'nt run into any problems with that procedure.

to test sender---ohmeter..set

to test sender---ohmeter..set to high ohms.......conn leads......move sender lever...it should show a corresponding reading on meter
