Tilt/Trim Swap

I purchased a boat with a 1983 Evinrude 70 hp without power tilt/trim. I found a guy parting out a 1984 Evinrude 75 hp WITH power tilt/trim and was wondering if I could take his tilt/trim and install it on mine. Are they compatible? Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

If the transom brackets (brackets that attach engine to boat) have three (3) mounting holes on each side near the lower portion of the brackets..... yes!

If the holes aren't there, there's no way to mount the unit.

Yes they will interchange It mounts the same way the gas assist cyl mounts. Make sure you get the relays and look to see if they mount under the hood of the 75 if they do you will need that bracket. You will also need his controls for the T/N/T switch. 1978 3 cyl and up all used the same unit until the early to mid 90s.

The tilt / trim used a 3 wire motor on the early units.----Later units ( some 81 and newer ) used a 2 wire motor.----------Make sure you get compatible controls for the unit you are buying.
