Checked on the forums and couldn't find exactly my problem so here goes:
Tilt and trim both work. However, after trimming up (regardless of how far up), the motor slowly falls back into the tilt position. Basically it will trim up but won't stay trimmed up. Replaced hydraulic fluid with like from West Marine with no changes. i did drain and add the new fluid while it was approximately trimmed up halfway so maybe i didn't flush and refill hydraulic fluid properly? Any thoughts? Local marine mechanic quoted me "$575 unless the whole tilt trim ram needs to be replaced." Trying to figure out if I can try a few cheaper self repairs before committing to the quote.
