Tilt/trim manual release

Hey guys, I just put an older evinrude 40 hp on my boat. The wiring from original tilt/trim controls is different than the motor I installed. Until I get this figured out I would like to raise the outboard for travel and to inspect or work on the tilt/trim motor. Most everyone says there should be a screw to release the motor on the side of the motor mount about half way down on right. But I have no screw heads or holes where I can get to the tilt trim. How do I release the tilt/trim so I can raise this motor ?
 
The manual release is on the side of the unit just under the motor for it. it's held in by a snap ring. It's a slotted screw.
