"I recently purchased a boat with a johson 70 hp motor unit.I'm not sure of the year,no's are J702TCSA .... 660957 . I think it may be around a 75 -85 year make ,fairly old . Motor runs well. While testing motor the trim tilt became stuck on in the down position and we heard a whirring noise from the back of the boat. Not realising the tilt was stuck on, after about 3-4 minutes the noise stopped. We then realised what had happened,we were able to get the motor to come up out of the water and into the up position when we got the boat out, but since then the tilt trim has not been working and is stuck in the up position.I have tried releasing the manual release screw on the hydrolic cylinder as per the trouble shooting guide , but motor did not come down . The fuse was blown in the elect box. Replaced that still no go. When tilt button is pushed up we can hear the solonoid click when pushed down no click. We tested solonoid and we think it working but not sure . We think it may have got very hot when the tilt was stuck on. Maybe the tilt switch got damaged also . Any advice on the subject would be greatly appeciated ."
