Tilt/Trim help please!

Hi guys, I have a 97 Maxum 1700sr with a 3.0 Mercruiser Alpha One. Over the weekend, the tilt/trim started acting up on me. It will do down just fine, but when I press the switch to go up, the motor runs (altough it makes a higher pitched souned than normal) but the motor will not go up. If I keep pressing and releasing the switch, it will eventually raise, should I start by replacing the "up" solenoid? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ayuh,..... Is there any oil in it,..??

If the motor's Runnin' the solenoid's Workin',.....
 
I pulled the cover that is on the solenoids, and all the connections were nasty corroded. I pulled em all off and cleaned em, put it back together and everything works great! I know the solenoids are good, but I think that with the corrosion, it may have been passing enough voltage to make the motor run, but not enough to shift the valve between down and up.
 
Hi I have a question along this line of trim tilt problems. ...I just replaced my motor an both solenoid circuit breaker and wire harness ( blue wire green wire and has fuse in red wire and the fuses that are coming off of the ignition switch. ..motor is working when I applied jumper wire to it but when I push the switch button nothing happens I put a pin light thing on it and im getting power to it so im kinda stuck any suggestions. .....oh its a mercruiser 120 ...1983 4 cylinder with older style hydraulic pump oilydine
