Tilt problem BF90A 2006

I have a BF90A with tilt problem. I have disconnected the cables that goes from the relay box to the tilt motor. It seems that both is grounding.
I assume that it should be no grounding in these cables and just 12 volt.
Measuring the cables gives me 12v when i connect the multimeter to the plus connection at the starter end to both the cables.
I assume that the tilt motor is grounded directly to the chassie so I have do have a ground issue. Can anyone confirm tis to me?

I do not think you have a grounding issue. It sounds like at least your trim relays are grounded. The tilt motor is not grounded to the chassis.

When the tilt relays are not operated, they connect a ground to the power trim motor leads.

In other words, when the up relay operates, it puts + 12v on one side of the motor lead. The other relay remains down and supplies the ground. The opposite happens when you operate the down circuit.

Put your multimeter on the two wires coming from the relay box and operate the trim button. You should get +12v when you operate it one way, and -12v when you operate it the other way. If you do not and the relays are operating (clicking), the first thing to check is the white lead going to the trim/tilt relay box to be sure it is getting 12v to the relay box. If it does not have 12v, check its connection at the starter solinoid.

If you are getting 12v that reverses polarity at the motor connector, then you probably have a bad motor or something wrong with the wire or connector.

Thanks. Problem solved. the tilt motor was full of water.
I also have a problem with the starter. the pluss connector is not
tight. I can lift the bolt app 1 cm and the
starter has problem to turn over. assume that
this is related to bad connection. Anyone that know where
I can get a new one to a fair price?

If you are looking for a starter, there are a couple of aftermarket starters out there under $200. Just google the part number 31200-zw1-004 and several will pop up. The Honda starter lists for over $600.

I do not know of any aftermarket honda trim and tilt motors for the 90HP. Boats.net may be your best bet. Part number 3620-zv1-703. Honda price is $332. You might find some on ebay, etc too.

Thanks again.
Te tilt motor works after cleaning and drying so no issue with that sofar.
I found starters at Ebay $159 which should be a fair price. Including shipping to Sweden (express) it was $240 so not bad compared with app $900 for a OEM and $1500 for an original here in Sweden.
Thanks again for all help.
