The trim indicator dosen't work properly, I'll get to it eventually, but in the mean time any body know how far the drive unit can be raised (tilted) for shallow water and not hurt the drive? I am assuming that it should not be run in the full raise position."

I wouldn't go over 1/2 Way up,......."

There is probably a really fin

There is probably a really fine line on how far up you could tilt your drive before the U-joints start to chew a hole in your bellows. Hole in your bellows = Water in your boat and drive = not good!
