is it normal that i have to pr

is it normal that i have to press the up switch for both the tilt and the trim at the same time to operate it any help would be appreciated help (el pescador)? its a volva penta aq131c
 
I believe there is a bypass sw

I believe there is a bypass switch that you have to depress if you want to go beyond the range of trim into tilt (or beach).

"I haven't dealt with VP power trim for years, but as I said before, I believe you have to depress both switches for tilt and beach, not for trim. I would start with checking the limit switch, which may be stuck. You may want to consult the Seloc repair manual for the wiring."

"thanks, also theirs wiring hooked to my alternator with a light attached to it it comes on when i turn the igintion on is this common or did he have a problem with the alternator and this was a quick fix,thanks again i wish i had your knowledge."

"Not sure which light you are talking about, but some older systems had (in lieu of an ammeter) a light that was on whenever you turned the ignition switch on and whenever the alternator was not charging. I don't know whether or not this is your case."
