[b]hi guys can any one help me

hi guys can any one help me i am wanting to put tilt and trim back on my 1975 135 hp evinrude but it seems almost impossible to get my hands on one of those old units/ive tryed ebay and few other places with no luck. so heres my ? could i or is it possible to convert to the newer style .i can not use an after market kit.thanks}

"The 1975 135 will not accept the later style (between the transom bracket) PTT units.

However, the later model 1986/88 40hp and 50hp models show that they use that old style PTT assembly. Unfortunately it is listed as being unavailable at the present time BUT someone may still have one on their shelves. At any rate, it's a starting point.

The part number is 172858 ."

"Sorry Jim but that's a judgement call you'll need to make. I have no idea if it is the same as what you need or not. I will say, in an assumtion mode, that if it looks identical to yours, my guess would be that it is the same as I'm not aware of OMC manufacturing two different versions (measurements) of that old style PTT unit.

Bottom line however is that it's your decision."

"thanks joe, o well if i get it and it does not fit i can always resell it on e-bay. lol, at one time my unit had one on it but some one put regular tilt shocks on it but i have all the wirring and switches and relay box still on the boat."

The unit is different.The main bracket that holds the cylinders has bolt holes that will not line up with the V-4 motors.
