Tilt and Trim Pump

I have a 1983 Invader, 135hp Mercruiser. The tilt and trim button stuck causing the power to stay on, as a result it melted the negative battery post and detroyed the tilt and trim button. Now the tilt and trim motor does not work, it is getting power, but when I connect a jumper wire from the power to each solenoid nothing happens. It is getting power because when I touch it to the motor it arcs. Please give me your opinion on what is wrong, could it be the solenoids have been destroyed or is the pump bad?

Ayuh,.... My guess is, ya burnt up the pump motor...

If I wanted to replace thepump, what model pump should I buy? I have attached a photo of the current one. It has 88183AL written on the side canister.

Ayuh,.... The newer 1s with the plastic tank are the only new 1s available, 'n will hook up to yer system...

How do u adjust the trim gauge?

Loosen the screws on the sender (puck) on the OD and slowly turn as needed. Start w/the OD trimmed in or fully down and adjust it to match the down point on the gauge.
