Tight steering Yamaha 50 G3 cc

I have a G3 cc with a 2004 Yamaha 50 2 stroke. The last few months the steering has gotten dangerously tight. I took the steering bar out of the channel and cleaned it very well. After putting it back together it is just as tight as before. I have put fresh grease in the fittings. I was just wondering if it is the steering cable or could it be something else? Any options would help.

I also have a G3 that became tight after my first winter. I did exactly what you did, although I also manually spread grease on the rod itself. You either need more grease or you need to really clean out the inside of the link arm. Or maybe just replace it.

I would guess it's not related to the cable. Just try rotating the engine with your hands.. if it's difficult to get it unstuck or you feel lots of resistance when it moves, I would say that narrows the issue down to the link arm itself.
