Ticking sound

bought a used deck boat with a 1994 Mariner 125hp outboard elpto and after taking it out a couple of times i pulled the cover and found a spark plug wire jumping a spark so i replaced the wires and plugs and after i started it again i noticed a metal ticking sound, the local shops cant get to it for 6 to 8 weeks anyone have any ideas on what it could be.

Ticking sounds are bad.------The first thing I would do is a compression test.----Post your numbers.

Sorry had to barrow a compression gauge. the from bottom to top they are 135, 125, 135, 137. look good to me.
