Thunderbolt IV Ignition

My nearly worthless SELOC manual describes (barely) the ignition system on my 86 Merc 230 hp 305, but not if that red/ yellow wire needs to be grounded for timing it. Could someone clarify, please?

If its a TB IV, no grounding of anything is required to set the ign timing.

Ayuh,.... Look in Here for better readin' Jeff,.....

The red/ yellow wires are usually the Start circuit, not ignition,....

What is the problem with your TB4?
