Throttle valve sensor disconnected

"I have at least I think I hav

"I have at least I think I have a 1991 DT 30. It has 3 cylinders, a throttle valve sensor, and from the repair manual the fuel pump is oriented to match either the 25 or 30. the year is just a stab in the dark.

The real question I have is when I got the motor it ran fine except for a spot in the the throttle just above idle where it would bog down and die, but if you just went past it quickly it would be fine. Although it sounds like its never reached the correct RPM. So I had a mechanic look at it and he just reconnected the throttle valve sensor, I took it out and it ran terribly. So i disconnected it and it ran as good as before for about a year. Now after sitting about 9 months I can't really get it to start. I ran fuel stabilizer/carb cleaner stuff through it and it cranked up and ran, took it to the water and it would not accelerate at all.(throttle valve sensor still disconnected). I'm planning on taking apart the carbs and cleaning them to see if that solves the problem.( i can't get it to start now with or without the sensor connected) So should i bother with the throttle valve sensor at all? Is there a way to test just it to see if it is bad and hopefully not something in the CDI. Which is $700 to replace. let me know what you think. Thanks in advance,
Ryan"
