"I have an older Honda 8 hp.

"I have an older Honda 8 hp. The throttle started to stick. I sprayed some dry lube in the throttle which helped, but then it started to stick again few days later. Do I need to replace the throttle arm?

Thanks,
Patty"

"You probably need to disassem

"You probably need to disassemble, clean and re-lube (with marine grease) the mechanism inside the tiller handle. There is a flush rubber dot on the underside of the hand grip, and it conceals a set screw. Best to look at a service manual, but it's easy to do.

I also had a new pivot bolt for the linkage lever (connects the cable to the carbureter linkage) machined to a different configuration and dimension. I don't recall the details, but this cured a jumpy throttle that couldn't be fixed by lubing the tiller and linkage. (I seem to recall now that I had ordered a new bolt and lever, but like the old ones they were sloppy -- very loose fit.)

Also, you may have a friction adjustment knob at the end of the tiller -- make sure it isn't over tightened."
