Throttle sliding back to START

I mounted a 1984 Sea-Horse 2HP engine on my little 10' Bass Raider and took it out on the water so that I could perform a high and low-speed adjustment.

I started the engine and advanced the throttle about half-way towards FAST. The throttle (armature plate) kept sliding back towards the START position and would settle at about the START position. Each time I tried to move it and set it near FAST, it would simply slide back to START.

It only exhibits this behavior when the engine is running so I think it must be some sort of vibration that is causing it. I set the throttle to FAST when the engine was at rest and tried pushing on the cam follower and there is no movement at all.

Anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this problem?

Thanks.

Possibly you have the coil set too close to the flywheel magnets.

There is a slight bevel at the top of the aluminum seat that the coils sets upon. The vertical metal portion of the coil (yoke) must align with the inside top bevel to obtain the proper spacing between the coil and the flywheel magnets.

@kimcrwbr1 #2 Thank you. I tightened this screw and it holds the armature plate pretty well. Only problem now is that I let it run at almost full throttle for a few minutes and the high-speed knob vibrated almost 1/4 turn towards lean causing the engine to shut off. I returned the high-speed knob to its original position (arrow pointing straight down) and I tried to restart it but it would not start. I think I'll start a new post for this one unless you may have some quick advice. Thanks again.
