" Hi Joe and the rest of the gang. I have a 1997 19 foot Kencraft Challenger Center Console equipped with a 1997 Johnson 115 HP Ocean Runner O/B. The engine starts and runs perfect and I am quite happy with it, it has very low hours and is as close to looking and running like new that you can get (without being new :)

Heres the problem, when cruising along in moderately choppy water (Sandy Hook Bay, NJ) the throttle setting slowly changes. It will gradually slow down on its own. Is there a tension adjusment on the throttle which would prevent this?

Thanks for the help.

"If you're using a regular OMC control box, there's a rather large knob on one end that applies tension such as a brake lining against the throttle cam, the purpose of which is counteract the problem you speak of. If, on the other hand, you're using a console mount of some kind, you will need to contact the manufacturer, dealer, whoever to see if that tension feature is incorporated. I should think it would be but I have no idea as to where the adjustment would be.

" Joe,

Thanks for respond

" Joe,

Thanks for responding so quickly. The boat is rigged with OMC controls, I was just outside trying to find the knob you mention or any signs of an adjustment mechanism. I took most of it apart and could not find any adjustment screws knobs or levers! I can't imagine that they would design a system that could not be adjusted but I sure can't find any! I certainly appreciate any advice or guidance.

Thanks.

" Joe,

Would it be better if I emailed you a picture?

Let me know if thats OK, it will take me a few days to get a picture. I'm working long hours this week and I won't have time to get the camera out and photograph it. I really appreciate the help.
