Throttle Lever & Alignment Marks J50PLEEA

I have a 1999 50HP Johnson (J50PLEEA) on a 14ft McKee craft that was left out in the elements for approximately 8 years. Good compression and spark. I bought a manual, rebuilt both carbs, replaced the VRO with just a fuel pump, replaced all of the hoses and fuel tank, thermostat, water pump, shaft seals and oil in the foot. The only unecessary thing I did was the shaft seals. By the time I had the foot apart, I found the mutiple posts on oil leaking down the skeg. A big thanks to everyone who have posted on this site; 99% of my questions were answered by searching old posts. I was reading the tune-up section of my manual and noticed that one of the steps was to make sure the follower roller and alignment marks on the throttle lever were alinged. They are not. The roller is approximately 1/2" above the marks. I have not gone through the tune-up procedure, just replaced spark plugs. I adjusted the the idle screws after rebuilding the carbs and the motor runs great. Is there any concern with the roller and the marks not being aligned? Thanks!

This only goes out of adjustment when someone fools with it , sort of the trial and error method ( mostly error ) in my opinion.---------The marks confirm the proper opening of the throttle in relation to ignition timing.--You can find that specification in your manual and you could check that with a timing light.---In short, if it was not fooled with the roller and cam should make contact at the marks to start opening the throttle.---If there is a large air gap between the cam and the roller and the motor runs fine then that is a bonus.-Indicates the motor is in good condition.
