Think its a 1981 7.5 hp ?

I just bought a johnson 7.5 hp model J8Rc1c. i cant find anything on it. I want to be sure before I tryand start it. Ipulled the plugs and there was a little gunk on them. It hasnt been started in over a year. but looks faily clean on the inside. whats my fuel ratio? Haven't got a manuel but anxious to get out there. Any help would be appreciated.

A " new to you " motor should have a new waterpump impeller installed.----------Mixture is 50:1 on that and a little extra oil never hurts the motor.

Appreciate the reply. Found I have a cracked fuel impeller. Its the outer housing. Is it OK to fuel tank repair jb weld this piece until I find a new one.? Also, from other 2strokes I usually start at 2 1/2 turns from closed to start tuning is that correct. Beautiful evenings wanna ride!! Thanks

Not sure what a fuel impeller is. I wouldn't JB weld anything, fix it right or you will be very frustrated. That motor is probably a 1981, I had one and it was a very smooth running motor. I would change the impeller, change the lower unit oil, and run some seafoam thru the engine to decarb it. Check the fuel line connections to make sure they don't leak, and enjoy. If it doesn't run right then start troubleshooting it, but give it a try after you replace the water pump impeller.

That is it! Cool, thanks for the explosion. (parts diagram) . The part I was talking about was #4 on the fuel pump. It was glued and fortunately I'm not to frustrated. It runs! Like I always knew it would.
I will bring more questions I'm sure. Thanks for all your help. Gone fishin...
