Whats up. You guys are so awesome that I decided to hit you up for advice again. I got a 40 hp mariner (40 E 6E9 s 104752), 1985 2 cylinder outboard. Basically a copy of those old Yamaha fm series.
I just took the thermostat and bypass valve out to cleaning/inspection/flush. When taking off the housing, the spring behind it popped the housing off, along with a back washer from the thermostat. When this happened, I didn't get to see the order/sequence at which these go back in (i.e. does the spring go behind the thermostat or plastic bypass valve, where does the back washer go, and in what order).
Sorry if I sound as though i'm mentally challenged, I just wasn't aware of the spring (and other small parts) so I didnt take the time to look at it.
So, what i'm asking is, would someone mind telling me the order at which the thermostat assembly (bypass valve, thermostat, spring, and back washer) goes back in, were the parts go, and what torque do I use for the thermostat housing bolts?
Sorry for being a dunce, I included all of the pictures as attachments to this post.
All the best.
