Someone needs to get this slow site speed straightened out and hopefully soon......

The results of a slow site are clearly in the amount of post or should I say lack there of!!

Typically there would or should be anywhere from 5 new posts or replied to posts per day.

WHy is there not ???

With winterizing and all this site should be crazy.

Anyone else feel this way?

For me on every PC I use it is slow!!

kghost,

I'm glad you posted. I was going to send you a PM asking if it was any better speed for you now. We have made some changes including upgrading to version 4.1 which just came out and most users are saying that it is as fast as other boards.

Can you tell me what browser and operating system you use? I know you mentioned that you tried it from multiple computers, but tell me the browser / operating system combination for at least one of them.

Thanks for your help.

Andrew

I had the same problem when using Explorer. Down loaded Mozilla Firefox - now as quick as any other site. Free download, and it's in addition to Explorer so can use either as desired.

Hi Andrew,... Thanks again for finding my little green guy for me,...

As I said the other day,.. Things have improved,.... But the speeds here are still slow,..
Better, but still to slow...

I'm runnin' XP-pro, internet Explorer, on cable... Lottsa memory,.. pretty fast internet machine...

Btw,... It was Great to finally talk to ya,...
My Bud, Bob is no doubt a resourseful tenacious fella, who can Get'er Done, when all hope is gone...
Glad to hear he ultimately untied ya....:D

Bob called me the following day,...
If I say he was Impressed with your operation, it would be a Huge understatement.....

Thanks again,....;)
Bill...

IT IS MUCH BETTER not slow like before. IE 7 windows XP .

what I noticed before was , my processor had to run at max for a minute before the site would open fully. now this is not occuring , and this site is acting normal compared to others. for me ..

I was wondering if this topic would come up again.... sure nuff!

Yes..... I'm thinking basically the same thing here. The number of questions seem to be less than last winter at about this same time.
Whether I log on remotely, or here in my office....., it is still slow loading..... even from my iPhone when remote and on Wi-Fi.

Andrew, we all know that you are making upgrades, etc. Thanks for that. :)
I hope that this can be resolved.

Re: I was wondering if this topic would come up again.... sure nuff!

Thanks to all who have posted above.

The varied comments above reflect what we are hearing in general. The speed for some users is good and for others is slow. Everyone seems to agree that it's better than it was a month ago, but it is still slow for some users. We have tried a lot of changes and upgrades to try to isolate the cause, and it seems like some of the changes have worked but we have not resolved the problem for all users.

The common issues seems to be that Internet Explorer 7 is the slowest browser. Anyone on IE7 could consider upgrading to IE8. That being said I certainly realize that not everyone will want to do that and we still need to get to the bottom of the problem. We are still working on it.

Bill (Bondo) from above.

Thanks for the comments. If anyone is wondering about his "little green guy" it's the photo he used for his avatar. We found the original and he is using it again for his avatar here. I beleive it was a lawn ornament somewhere. Looks like it was made out of a drum of some kind...

Ayuh,... You're absolutely correct Andrew,...
This sculpture was sittin' across the road from a driveway I was paving a few years ago, on the shores of the mighty St. Lawrence river...

The tinboat is actually an old piece of steel siding off a tin shed...
The Frog is an old propane tank, his arms are old exhaust pipe, his hat an old enamaled wash basin, his snout a couple pieces of tin...
I snapped a picture of 'im, as I thought he's pretty darn Cute...
And, of course, he makes a Great avatar in a boating forum, Thanks to Your talents, makin' 'im small enough to work,...

A big Thank you to You, 'n to the artist who created 'im....
