I have a 88 bayliner Cobra. Last year the fuel gauge was actin up on me. With the price of gas this year i cant afford to top this pig off with gas each time i go out boatin. I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers on where to start looking for the problem here.

"How do you mean acting up? Most common problem is the sender in the tank. Quick test for the gauge, pull the sender wire off the back (could be pink wire and terminal marked S?) turn the key on, needle should be at empty, next take a short jumper wire and touch the ground terminal to the sender terminal and the gauge should peg to the full side, if it does then the gauge is ok. Next thing to check is the sender in the tank, this is a variable resistor and normally has approx 250 ohms in the empty position and approx 30 ohms in the full position, use an ohm meter and raise the arm up and down and see if the readings change."
