"Hi EL, I want to thank you for answering my questions back in April. My AQ125A had a rusted out plug in the raw water line. We have had a very enjoyable time on the water with very few problems. But I do have two more questions that I would like to ask you. First, where can I find new springs for my centrifical advance? They are a little weak. I bought a Seloc manual which has been very usefull. Right now I am doing routine maintenace that should have been done years ago. By the way, the boat ran fairly good all summer. I was thinking about changing props because my rpm's would only go to 4000. What I have discovered is that I have a RIGHT hand rotation prop that is hooked up to the LEFT hand rotation side of the shifter. Is this possible or am I loosing it? Can a boat run with the prop rotating in the wrong direction? Once again, I want to thank you for your help."

"Daniel, I haven't seen the springs as an item being sold by Volvo Penta. You may be able to get them through Bosch. Try contacting Bosch customer service at 888-715-3616 and have at hand the numbers in your distributor. Nevertheless, if I were you, I would take the distributor to a shop where they can test the advance curve and depending of the results they can install springs of the correct stregth.

Regarding the prop, you mush have installed it correctly, unless you are moving the throttle control into reverse to go forward and vice versa.

Many times I have come across shift boxes that are hooked up wrong. On a Volvo Penta AQ series outdrive the cable must extend or push to go forward. If it pulls to go forward you are locking the drive down in forward gear which is not to be done.
