Thank You Santa!

Thanks. Ya I know it's not good to rev the snot outa em on muffs. But dang it I just couldn't resist doin a lil somethin for the camera ...

Am runnin double oil and have done several 'heat cycles' over the past couple days. 99.99% of it at idle.

Vid of it in stock form: (Turned out the problem was a pinhole leak in a hose, peed on the electronics at high rpm.)

ps. Ignore the commentator ...

With a stock '83 140 it'd turn a 13 3/4 X 24 SRX chopper to a lil under 6K @ 62.9 mph. That particular ignition is rev limited to 6100 rpm. So I'd have to say I purty much nailed it with that prop?

Granted those rpm's are slightly higher than the manufacturers recommended range. So in a way you're right it's underpropped.

Hull really don't like too much trim. Don't like weight fwd neither. She seems to like all her junk in the trunk?

Did you put the extra holes in the mid section? Sounds good :)
I didn't personally drill the mid. But yes the holes aren't factory.

That's the coveted '77 tuner/mid. Only year OMC made a true 'megaphone' tuner for the V4 Crossflow. Holes in the mid are drilled just below the tuner.

wait till I get the 300 V8 up and running :)
Ha! Yep they're really gonna love that.

Mine are cool. Then again they're kinda conditioned ... Well, that and I been here longer'n any of em so they don't give me any chit. Cuz they know I'll tell em right where to stick it ...

Hopin to get the motor hung on the boat tomorrow.

Stay tuned

ps. Got a few others but thought this cowl might be appropriate. (Emphasis on SPL ...)

Mine are cool too.. they actually like to watch me run the lake at 80+ mph. And I idle into the bay I'm in, so I'm not causing waves. Besides, at idle the 200 just makes a nice echo in the bay :) If they gave me any flak, I'd just tell 'em to get stuffed LOL, I've been here for 56 of my 57 years.

Love the cowl, leave the 88 hp decals on it to fake out the guy that tries to outrun you. I had a modded 140 X flow that was about 150 hp with a 115 cowl on it :)

Dunno what this thing's gonna do but it oughta be purty gnarly. Ported, scalloped block, scalloped teflon coated pistons, rod slots cut. Balanced rotating assy, etc.

Had her fired up a lil earlier and started runnin like crap. I was about going apechit before I discovered the fuel tank was empty.

6 gals since day before Xmas. Sitting on a stand. Mebbe 2 - 3 hours running. (Me thinks this is gonna be one thirsty sob ...?)

Mine had some mild porting, scalloped pistons (high ring), high comp heads, 1 3/8" carbs, everything balanced to within a gram.. ran great, just didn't have the power I wanted for my 16' Sidewinder. It wasn't bad on gas, but I really didn't run it enough to get a mileage number. Swapped it for a 235

Got her hung on the boat. Naturally we forgot to stick the steering cable through the tilt tube first time around. So had to pull the motor back off. And now I'm covered with twice as much grease & 5200 ...

Ah well. I'm hoping someday before I die I'll quit making rookie mistakes ...?

Regardless. The motor is mounted. WooHoo!!!
