Testing temp sensor 1989 evinrude 200

Temp sensor 1989 evineude. E200STLCEB. Is there a way to test the temp sensors. I know if you ground the wire from the power pack the horn goes off. But I want to test th sensors themselves.

Grounding the wire from the heat sensor causes the warning horn to sound... not from the powerpack.

To actually test the heat sensors, remove them, attach a ohm meter to both ends, dip the business end of the sensor in very hot water. That should make the sensor ground out internally and cause the ohm meter to register..... OR......

Leave the sensor installed, disconnect it, hook a ohm meter between the sensor and ground, then apply heat via a hand held propane torch momentarily to the aluminum surrounding the sensor. That should also make the meter register.
