Terrova 80 lbs thrust i-Pilot GPS routing

When I engage the GPS for tracking on a particular heading, it is does NOT following the heading I put it on. As I understand it, it is supposed to maintain that heading regardless of wind etc.
Can someone offer a possible solution. It was the reason why I purchased it.

Also, on "Spot lock" is there a software upgrade available as the unit is always going left and right at mid range speeds to maintain it point. This can be dangerous if you are not holding on. I thought it was supposed to 'learn' and improve to the point it will eventually keep a steady heading. Can one update the software?

yep, you need the GPS pod to keep it on direction, and there is a wat to change the speed or torque for the size of your boat, the way it "ramps up"
