Temporary Tachometer for Testing Purposes

I have a 14' aluminum boat that I run around the lake in. It's a simple boat with just bench seats so I don't have anywhere to install a regular tachometer gauge display. Is there a way I can attach a cheap temporary tachometer to my outboard just to see if the RPM is in a good range for testing purposes? Currently 1975 Evinrude 6hp 2-stroke.

If your goal is to test prop performance, the one that the mfr put on is about as good as it is going to be. Unless it is right at the verge of planing or not planing. You can tell that by the seat of your pants
