1999 5.7 crusaders any body know the resistance values for the temp gauge sender?and the temp sender for the warning buzzer/when the engines at normal temp? thanks bcclew

The warning buzzer is controlled by a switch; most close on overheat to the metal thread making ground on the horn circuit.

The temperature gauge's sender is a thermistor - its resistance will vary with temperature. 33 ohms should drive the gauge to full scale (hot), 240 ohms should put it at the lower mark (usuall indicating ~ 120 degF, 111 ohms will be midscale. measure between the wire stud and the threads.

Note these values are for single station gauges, dual stations will be 1/2.

thanks for the come3 back. i guess ill have to do some more digging.these engines where done over about 4 years a go.be for i bought it.the senders for the gauge at normal temp is about 317 ohms.the ones for the warning system about 67 ohms. with a heat gun engins are running about 140 deg. aand the gauges shoe about 140.one eng goes alittle higher once an while this is on land with fresh water from the hose.the engs have the half cooling system just the block. i guess there are 140 stats in them i have not looked i was trying to see if the gauge was bad with the heat engs dont change .mabe im chaseing my tail thanks

the one eng was running 180 on the gauge. the other was 135. after ck res on temp senders i switched the wire to the one with the higer res now both gauges even 135 so i guess the wires got switched before i got the boat.so think the problem is solved thanks for all the help.bcclew
