I have a 1990 40 hp. merc and

I have a 1990 40 hp. merc and when I run it full throttle for about 5 miunets the alarm will go off warning the engine is overheating. The water pump has been replaced recently. This problem has been going on since I bought the boat about 6 months ago. If I run 3/4 throttle the alarm will not sound. There is one adjustment hole on the motor mount to lower the outboard into the water.There is a stabilizer fin on the outboard I don't know if that is causing problems.

"I don't see a thermostat or popet for your engine, try changing the temp sensor. Those foils slow the boat down and increase pressure on the engine mount and transom, unless really needed ditch it"
