Hey guys. Feeling dumb right now. I just got a77 55hp evinrude outboard and after extensive research found that there is no telltale on this engine. So how do I tell if the impeller is doing its job or not? Please help.
 
Back in the day folks knew that you had to install a new impeller every 5 years or so.----Therefor no need for a tell tale.-----Install a new impeller ( easy to do ) in my opinion.----Test your overheat warning horn and go fishing.

Thank you for verifying what I thought I should do anyway. But I'm not even sure if over heating horn works either. Where does the water come out so that I may verify if it's working or not?
 
Test the horn !----Or say you have no idea and ask how to do it.----The 2 holes at the back below the cowling spit water at idle.----Lots of water comes out at full throttle on the river.----Most of the cooling water goes down with the exhaust.
