"Good evening.

My boat has twin Honda 200 and one of them did not have any flow out of its telltale on the water. After flushing the system with compressed air, both engines peed like a horse with a flushing muff. A couple of hours after I took the boat out for a shake down cruise now the starboard motor started to decrease its flow so I turned it off. After a few hours the port side motor started to have the same problem.

On the way home, I flushed them out again with compressed air and now they are peeing like a horse again with flushing muff.

I am thinking about replacing impellers out...what do you think?

Could depend on what sort of water you are running them in - if its dirty or sandy water could be picking up grit - I sometimes have the same hassle our twin Hondas - I use a small alloy rivet or small lngth of stainless steel wire to gently clean - be careful and don't insert more than 1". We run our motors in sometimes dirty and sandy water and the impellers last around 500-700 hours with no problems.

"Thank you for your replies...the problem is solved. To give you a feedback: I inspected both impellers and they were in good shape. I did change them out to new ones anyways though. They both peed like champs when I ran the motors in a tank after flushing it out w/ compressed air then changing out the impellers. I took the boat out this weekend. When I started the motor at firt, starboard motor's output was great. The port side motor flow however was not. I cleaned out the telltale with a thin rod (a.k.a. nail) and it started to pour out once again. Apparently salt crystal was acting like a valve. When I flushed with compressed air the crystal would blow away from telltale allowing water to flow out without any impedement but then it eventually found its way back to the port blocking the flow. I will be flushing my motors w/ "Salt Away" solution to prevent this from happening in the future.

Again thanks for your inpupt and I wish you all a wonderful week.

Regards,

yhc"
