Not recommended as tcw3 oil is for water cooled motors but I know people that do it.

"Typically, a two stroke engine using a TCW-3 oil has a flashpoint for the oil or 143 degrees. If you are using this kind of oil in an emergency, no problem. But for extended use and normal course of action, you will need a two stroke oil formulated specifically for air cooled two stroke engines. That oil has a different flash point and wont carbonize as easily."

"Best authority I know on the subject is the manufacturers. I'm willing to bet if it were even questionable, they wouldn't recommend it. All of the TCW-3 oil I buy states right on the label that it is fine in all of my 2-cycle products. I have been running my chain saws, edgers, LawnBoy mower, everything on it for more years than I care to remember. Never a lubrication issue with any."

"Thanks to everyone who responded. I have used the tcw oil for years in my older air cooled equipment but I just bought an expensive back pack blower and I don't think I want to take a chance. I assume the 143 degree flash point is a centigrade measurement. I have a 1958 5 1/2 Johnson and the owners manual at that time called for SAE 30 regular motor oil at 1/2 pint per gallon(16 to 1 Ratio). I once owned a British Seagull and remember it calling for a 10 to 1 ratio. Fortunately things have changed as to the quality of oils and the efficiency of the newer motors. Running these older motors in a barrel produced an incredible oil slick. Even using the newer TCW3 oil at a 50 to 1 ratio, my 62 Evinrude 40 HP leaves quite an oil mess in just a few minutes. My 95 Merc 115 oil injected two stroke can run in a barrel for 15 minutes with almost no oil residue. Thanks again to all posters...Lets hope for an early summer"
