Tapping Tachometers to Make Them Read Properly

Not necessarily a crusader problem, but when I initially start the engines, neither tachometer will read properly until after I have tapped on the dial face several times. They will jump all around when I tap on them and eventually, after a couple of minutes, settle down and work properly. They are Faria tacs tied to 6.0L Crusaders.Any ideas?

Try moving the selector switch for 4, 6, or 8 (cylinders) on the back of the tach, if so equipped, through all positions several times and then leave on 6.

i had issues with my tachs acting up and one was shorting out and burning out my coils. new ones from teleflex were around 80 bucks and very easy to install. i bet those old tachs are starting to fail and i would just replace them
