We have two Volvo Penta TAMD40B engines. Last season our port engine got a little hot when running max rpm, lovwering to 3000 and temperature lowered again. This season it gets hot running 1000 rpm and in gear. We have cleaned and maintained Oilcooler, HeatExchanger and checked impeller in the sewater pump.
* Pulled of the hose on the exhaust elbow and plenty of seawater coming out in idle. The exhaust elbow did not look blocked, though have not removed it completely.
* No bubbles in the termostat housing and the coolant water is clear
I therefore did a detailed analysis with a temperature gun and monitoring both engines over time.
My assumption is that it has to be the freshwater pump since the temperatures rising is at, or close to the freshwater areas.
