"I purchased this 1986 6 HP Yachtwin and need to ship it from Va. to Ohio. To make the package more compact can I just remove the bolt at the hinge point of the tiller, and will the tiller then lay more flat? Thinking of duct tapping it to the motor. I see in the parts catalog that there is a throttle cable that looks like is encased in a tube. Wondered if this needs to be disassembled too? Thanks in advance to anyone who may have removed these."

The throttle cable and the wiring to the stop button pass through a sleeve together. They could I suppose both be disconnected and removed along with the tiller. But make sure you note how the throttle cable is fastened at the engine end and watch out for any small parts that would come adrift at the same time and note the position of the P clip on the cable outer sheath.

"won't that throttle handle fold back alongside the hood?"

Not all the way. It folds until it is exactly in line with the top rear corner of the hood. It then projects about 1" beyond that corner but that's perfectly OK to fit in a crate

"OK then,

The advice here changes our mind to NOT take off the tiller for shipping. Thank You Joe R & Vic S for your prompt reply,
Chuck & Almar."
