TACHOMETER HOOKUP 1993 75HP the

I have this 75HP on my 22' pontoon boat. It has never had A tachometer and looking at the engine harness it goes directly into the throttle /shift assembly not under the dash. How do I tap into the ignition /CDI to hookup A tach ?

Is there a three pin plug coming out of the controls neg, pos and pulse? Look at the harness going under the dash and see if one wire is not connected? If it is powering accys with the key it is not recommended. Run two separate wires from the battery to the helm and fuse everything. You want to keep house power separate from the engine fuse. If you add a house circuit always fuse the pos wire at the battery and install a fuse block for all other accys.

You said there are wires from the controls to the dash are they connected to a fuel guage or lights?
I have no wires hoing to the dash. I do have the control apart and there are 4 wires that come from the motor and are taped off hidden inside the cover. They are tan, tan with blue tracer, gray and brown with white tracer . Could 3 of these be for tach ? The brown (maybe black) with white tracer wire has 12.7 volts , the other 3 when checking for ground using the one hot one gives me about 10 volts . Grounded but not a good one. Any thoughts ?

The grey is the tach signal, tan is to temperature gauge, tan /blue is temperature warning horn, brown /white is trim sender to gauge
