Tachometer Creeps

On occasion tachometer on the Port side engine will creep to higher RPM without the engine increasing in speed. The needle will start to float to a higher RPM than the engine is actually running at.

The back of the gauge may have a 4-6-8 cylinder switch and the contacts can can be cleaned by rotating the switch thru all 3 settings a few times before leaving it set at the proper number. This may help.
