Tachometer and Tilt Gauge problems

Have a 1990 150 GT Johnson on a Champion with 1990 Teleflex gauges. The tach will set to Zero when key is turned and I beleive i have the correct setting on the back and are wired correctly. It is set to 12. When I move the setting screw while idling there is no change at all, just stays at Zero.

The tilt gauge will move an 1/8 of an inch to the bottom of the gauge when the key is turned leading me to believe that the sender (mechanisim) is shot.
Any help would be greatly appricated....even if it is to get new gauges

Regarding the Tach, I'm not sure but I think it needs to be set to 6 for that motor. The bigger issue is why the tach isn't working. When you are SURE you have both +/- hooked up correctly to the tach run a wire directly to the terminal block on the motor where the yellow/gray + gray bridge is. That is where the send unit ultimately reads from. If you still get nothing then odds are you have a bad rectifier. Is your battery charging during use? This will help isolate the problem, at least since I don't know the wiring hookup you use.

Double check the ground connection to the instruments.
Must be common to engine ground and not a separate from a n axillary battery. Test with a clean ground cable.

Im fairly certain that ive located the yellow/grey where it connects and turns to strictly yellow off of connection strip (6 screw terminal) #2. Right before it goes under the stator. Is this correct?

Also, on the connection to the gauge itself: 1. light connection
2.Ground
3. Ignition
4. Send
5. Unidentified terminal
When i removed:
BLUE - light connection
BLACK W/ STRIPE and BLACK- ground
PURPLE and PINK- Ignition
GRAY- Unidentified terminal

I believe gray need to be on the send unless the unidentifed terminal is another send.
