Tach Problem

I have a 95 115 Johnson V4. The tach was working fine when I park worked the boat 1 week ago. Now it does not work right. When you turn the key it goes to 0 like normal but when you turn the key to start the engine it goes up to just over 1000, when the engine starts and is running it is reading 0. If I pull the kill switch cord off and turn the engine over it clime to over 1000 and will stay there as long as you turn the engine over. That makes me think its getting the signal to the grey wire

I figured it out. It ended up being the main harness connector, was full of water. I suppose the heavy rains from the storm that came through the other night was the cause of water getting in. I pulled the connector apart blew it out with my compressor put some connective grease on the pin and damn it work again. Go figure something so simple. Well time to go to the store and get motor cove.
