Tach for 1996 48 hp 48spl

I have a 96 48SPL and got a replacement Teleflex tach with system check same as old tach. what setting should be on the back of the tach It currently is set to 6p i am not sure but believe it needs to set to 5p Thanks for the help

The tachometer operates off of the engines six (6) pulse charging system. The settings on the back of the tachometer pertains to the pulse setting.
