Replaced ingnition switched yesterday. Before I did that gas guage did not work and tac worked great. Now the gas guage works and the tac stays pegged out at full. Seems there is a purple wire connected to the switch that when I play with it makes the gas guage needle jump. Does this purple wire have anything to do with the tac and gas guage?

"Jeff, If you only changed the ignition switch you can't have put a sender wire on a hot. There are no sender wires connected to your switch, only a B(+). The gage ground is most likely connected to the control box housing, this could well be your problem.

Take your multi-meter and check the wiring at the gages and see what you have."

"Well after checking I had no ground on the gas guage or the tac. Hooked up a ground on both. I now have the lights on the guages work, the tac is back at zero, but the gas guage stays on empty."

"to ck the gas gauge ,...turn key on,run a short piece of wire, from sender term,to grnd term, and it should peg.....if,u have 12v to it...if it does not the gauge is bad,if it does,u either have a bad sender wire,or conn,..or sender in tank is bad."

It did peg using the test you gave so I guess it's off to buy a new sending unit. Thanks for the help
